Sahara Centre yesterday announced the appointment of Gavin Cox as Managing Director of the mall.
Mr. Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Co-Owner of Sahara Centre said: "We are pleased to welcome Gavin to the Sahara Centre management team and are confident his experience in the mall business will drive Sahara Centre's success to new heights. His main business objective is to further strengthen Sahara Centre as the prime shopping destination for shoppers as well as an attractive location for world-class retailers."
Prior to joining Sahara Centre, Cox was Centre Manager at the famous Canal Walk Shopping Centre, the largest mall in South Africa and was involved in its successful launch. His key roles there included ensuring a comprehensive offering of events, promotions and world-class retail outlets at the mall, which showcased over 400 tenants.
He was also directly involved with retail space leasing and marketing of the shopping centre. Cox had joined Canal Walk Shopping Centre after successfully launching a series of flagship stores throughout South Africa.
At Sahara Centre, Cox's immediate focus is to concentrate on the creation of an ideal tenant mix, which will satisfy all visitors to the mall. At present, 95% of the retail space has already been leased out, offering entertainment and shopping for the entire family. Its retail outlets offer a wide choice of international brands specializing in fashion and lifestyle products for the whole family as well as cosmetics, accessories and a roster of top-notch fast food outlets and cafes.
Cox's strength lies in his vast experience as both a tenant and a mall manager. With his valuable experience Cox aims to maximize landlord and tenant satisfaction for optimum performance of the shopping centre.

The Sahara Centre project which opened on February 20, 2002 is owned jointly by Mr. Abdulrahman Bukhatir and Mr. Saeed Ghobash.
