AEC Online will deliver up to date construction material information, including product details, brochures and specifications in a cost efficient way to architects, contractors and developers in the Middle East region

The regional portal, is a part of the AECinfo network that already covers ten countries in Europe, North America and Asia. The network was created by the Swiss-based Docu Group in 2002 and has since then seen a steady growth in geographical coverage and content, through acquisitions and partnerships. The sites are visited by over 1 million visitors a month and consist of more than 200,000 companies with about 250,000 product details, brochures, specifications and drawings.

"We know that it will take some time to build a regional database with product details, brochures and specifications, but we are confident that this is the future and that it will be appreciated by all in the industry," said Stefan Lindqvist, Docu Group's CEO. "It simplifies the access to updated information and makes it more cost efficient for suppliers to update and distribute brochures and technical information."

Through AEC Online, architects, contractors and developers can easily access company and product information. Brochures, specifications and CAD details will be available for download. The portal's automated RFI (request for information) system enables users to request product clarifications, printed material etc. from one or multiple companies in a simple operation.

AEC Online will also shortly launch a newsletter presenting products and industry news, which will enable the industry to stay updated on new and improved products and technologies from around the world.

The initial listing on AEC Online is free, and any company operating in the building and construction industry can go online and register its company's details. Enhanced listing with product details, brochures, specifications is charged at a nominal fee. Compared to the cost of printing and distribution of brochures and technical information, the cost of using AEC Online is very low. Companies with enhanced listing will also have their products and services included in the newsletter and banner advertisements.

With the high demand of products and services in the region, AEC Online will also accept suppliers from outside the region to be presented on the portal. This will make it easier for foreign suppliers to promote their companies and for developers to source products and services internationally.

"The AEC Online portal is published in cooperation with Tecnoserve FZ-LLC in Dubai. We are very pleased to be able to work together with a partner that has in-depth knowledge of the building and construction industry in the region. In the next few months we will also expand our network into additional countries in Europe," he continued.
