The company manufactures top of the range porcelain tableware and is billed to gain stature as one of the top quality suppliers of exquisite tableware in the industry.

In his inaugural address, Sheikh Saud said that the launch of RAK Porcelain marks the addition of yet another successful enterprise in the industrial sector of Ras Al Khaimah. He said that the Government of Ras Al Khaimah is proactively working to encourage businesses and is making efforts to remove barriers, if any, that hampers investment.

"The establishment of many new ventures like the CSEM (Swiss Centre for Electronics and Microtechnology, Inc.) Technology Innovation Centre and the launch of the AED 1 billion EDRAK company are part of the efforts to transform the Emirate into a hub of business, research, education and tourism",

he added.

RAK Porcelain LLC is a sister concern of RAK Ceramics, the Ras Al Khaimah based global leader in the ceramic industry. The new porcelain factory is set up at a cost of AED 80 million and will manufacture high grade alumina fully vitrified porcelain tableware for the hotel, catering and retail industry. The factory spreads over an area of 60,000 square meters with 1,000 square meters earmarked for office space.

Dr. Khater Massaad, CEO of RAK Porcelain, said that the factory has a capacity to produce 15 million pieces of premium quality porcelain dinnerware per annum with its two production lines. "The capacity could be doubled to 30 million pieces annually in a phased manner, which would make it one of the biggest porcelain tableware factories in the world", he said.

Dr. Massaad said that RAK Porcelain would bring to the market exquisite tableware in six different series with more than 150 different decorations. He added that the firm has commissioned renowned international designers to bring in uniqueness in concept and design.

The factory has also incorporated leading manufacturing technologies in the world with machineries supplied by Sacmi Imola, Italy and SAMA, Germany.

"We hope that we will be able to recreate the success of RAK Ceramics, which has become a global leader in the ceramic industry in a span of 15 years, in the new RAK Porcelain venture too", Dr Massaad said.

He said that RAK Porcelain is aiming for leadership in the porcelain tableware market by delivering superior product quality which guarantees the basic demand of restaurant operators like edge chipping resistance and thermal shock safety and by offering outstanding design competence, allowing for quick and flexible dinnerware decoration with a major focus on custom made designs.

The firm has its European headquarter located in Luxembourg and has a global marketing network.
