IRU Dubai to deliver vital communication links

The 30th World Congress of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 14-16, with the aim of delivering vital solutions to road transport networks worldwide and its link to a successful economy.

Bing hosted for the first time in the UAE, the theme of IRU Dubai is Road Transport: 'Vital Link to Progress'. The conference will help establish the crucial role played by road transport networks in social and economic development and economic protection.

His Excellency Eng.Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Communications, said: 'Much of UAE's success is attributable to its efficient transport systems. The government recognizes that road transport in particular will continue to play a key role in achieving the UAE's economic, social and environmental goals.'

'The fact that a prestigious event related to the road transport industry is being hosted in Dubai is itself an indication of the tremendous value that the UAE government attaches to improving road networks and surface transport,' he added.

More than 1700 delegates from 67 countries will attend 30 sessions that will be held over a period of three days. There will be interactive plenary sessions, roundtables and an international press conference.

The organizing committee for IRU Dubai recently concluded its latest meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Communications to finalize the details about hosting the international delegates.

Mr. Abdullah Lootah, Under-secretary at the Ministry of Communications, said: 'Elaborate preparations are being made for the convenience of the international delegates including special counters at the Dubai International Airport.'
