The Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai, is one of the key players in promoting the emirate to the outside world and attracting more business and leisure travellers by showcasing the mega expansion plans of Dubai International Airport. This can be best gauged by the growth in passenger movement. In the last 10 years, passenger movement at Dubai International Airport has grown 247.8% from 7.1 million in 1995 to 24.7 million in 2005.
Mr. Masoud Mohammed Saleh, Manager Exhibitions and Events, DCA said:
"DCA works very closely with DTCM in order to promote Dubai International Airport and Dubai city worldwide. This year DCA will participate in more than 20 major exhibitions and road shows including ITB - 2005 - Berlin; World Travel Market, London and USA Road show - Discover Dubai New York City, Minneapolis, Los Angeles."
DCA also participate in famous sports events such as UAE Day in London which coincides the Newbury horse race Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry UAE."
The Department of Civil Aviation expects to attract more airlines to Dubai International Airport by participating in those exhibitions, currently 110 airlines operate from Dubai International Airport to over 160 destinations around the world.
