Etisalat announces participation in ICT Cairo 2006

Emirates Telecommunications Corporation- Etisalat- has announced that it will be a key participant at the 10th ICT Cairo 2006 conference, which will be held in Cairo, Egypt, between the 5th and 8th of February 2006.

This event has grown to be considered one of the most important telecom and IT sector events in the region, where participants showcase their most modern and innovative telecom solutions. This year's event highlights are expected to be 3G services, and the latest modes of convergence between voice, data, multimedia, Internet telephony and other services. Some key topics that will be featured include e-signatures, e-payments, contact centre services and technologies, and the e-services industry.

Mohammad Hassan Omran, Chairman and CEO, Etisalat, said:

The Etisalat stand at ICT Cairo 2006 will showcase the most state-of-the-art services and 3G applications that the Corporation has pioneered in the region. The stand will display the most exciting global mobile applications like hi-speed Internet, video conferencing and TV streaming, apart from other services that will portray Etisalat as an innovative operator. The Corporation's participation is under the theme, 'Your ambitions... Our achievements".

The conference will provide opportunities to discuss integration and convergence processes of telecom and data solutions and applications, as well as the challenges and needs of the telecom sector in relation to other sectors it serves like Oil & Gas, transport, education, Government, tourism, banking and media.

ICT Cairo 2006 is being held at a time when the regional telecom sector is undergoing huge growth due to the liberalization of the sector across the region, and the opening up of markets to new operators. Etisalat is evaluating the possibilities of bidding for the third GSM licence in Egypt, and the Corporation is studying the potential of growth from its investment.

Etisalat is a regular participant at conferences, summits and exhibitions held in the region and beyond.
