USD600 million Aviation Finance deal completes Barclays double

  • PRESS RELEASE

Denton Wilde Sapte has advised Barclays Capital as the arranger and lead senior lender of a USD600 million financing facility for Oasis International Leasing Company.

The loan represents the major component of a financing package to enable the Abu Dhabi based company to purchase 25 aircraft in a US$900 million deal with Airbus Financial Services.

Denton Wilde Sapte also recently advised Barclays Capital as joint lead arranger of the US$3.5 billion sukuk (Islamic Bond) issued by Ports Customs & Free-Zone Corporation of Dubai.

"The Oasis financing was more than a year in the making and involved an innovative 'swap' technique designed to smooth out a variety of floating and fixed repayments into a single repayment stream,"

says Aviation Finance partner Nick Chandler.

"This was critical in Barclays Capital delivering a straightforward package that would be attractive to other lenders."

The Denton Wilde Sapte team was led by Nick Chandler and fellow Banking & Finance partner James Curtis. They were assisted principally by Bill Gibson, Ann Stubbs and Alison Jones.

Airbus Financial Services were advised by Freshfields, while Speechly Bircham acted for Oasis.
