Emirates SkyCargo's services to South India soar
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, January 31 - 2006 at 08:42
- PRESS RELEASE
With a large population of expatriate Keralites based in the Gulf, freight forwarders and shippers in the region are keen to see the start of Emirates SkyCargo's services to Thiruvananthapuram, the cargo division's second destination in Kerala.
Emirates SkyCargo will now offer the cargo community around 135 tonnes of belly-hold capacity every week to Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai each, and 120 tonnes to Cochin. These capacities are also supplemented by Emirates SkyCargo's Boeing 747-200F freighter, which flies to Chennai once a week offering a capacity of 105 tonnes.
Retailers, restaurants and households in the Middle East, Europe and the U.S. can look forward to fresh vegetables, foodstuff and spices from Kerala to arrive in mint condition as Emirates SkyCargo's cool dollies, specialist facilities and staff at the Dubai International Airport will help maintain the cool chain for these perishable products.
Garments, textiles, coir products, electrical products and other handicrafts are also important exports from this coastal state of India that are in high demand across Emirates' network. Kerala is also home to the manufacture of fine and intricate gold jewellery, which finds booming trade markets in the Middle East, including the Dubai gold souks and the Dubai Gold and Diamond Park. Emirates SkyCargo's solutions such as specially developed containers, highly secured storage areas and constant surveillance guarantee the highest levels of security for these treasured valuables.
The retail industry in Kerala is looking forward to connect quickly and efficiently on Emirates SkyCargo's vast network spanning the Middle East, Europe and the U.S. to help import electronics, household goods, consumer goods such as televisions and music systems, computer parts and spares, and personal effects. Emirates SkyCargo's extensive and scheduled road feeder services in South India between Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore and Tirupur extend its distribution capabilities and provide customers with the convenience of local delivery.
Emirates SkyCargo has established a robust presence in India and will now offer more than 1000 tonnes of cargo capacity every week, with a combination of dedicated freighter and belly-hold capacity in the 57 non-stop flights a week between Dubai and India, including 19 to Mumbai, seven to Delhi and eight to Hyderabad. Emirates SkyCargo serves 78 destinations in 55 countries including five cargo-only destinations - Amsterdam, Bangalore, Gothenburg, Lilongwe, and Taipei.
