DCCI receives Iranian commercial delegation

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry DCCI received a commercial delegation from Iran, headed by Hamid Riza Ghadi the Vice President of Mazandran Chamber of Commerce - Industry and Mines, accompanied by officials from the chamber and more than 50 Iranian businessmen.

Sultan Majed Lootah, acting Director of Business Promotion Department at DCCI welcomed the delegation. He explained that the non oil bilateral trade between the two countries reached 3.3 Billion US Dollars, which indicates the trade volume between the two sides.

Ghadi thanked DCCI for hosting the commercial delegation. He highlighted the development of the commercial relationship between Mazandran and the UAE, which is considered one of the major trading partners of Iran. He added that the Mazandaran Chamber looks forward for further development between the two countries. He invited DCCI to visit Mazandaran and to organize a trade exhibition to create more opportunities for the investors from both countries.

Sultan Lootah made a presentation on the the encouraging business environment in Dubai for the Iranian businessmen, such as the no tax, excellent infrastructure, strategic location in a region that includes more than 2 billion consumers, (Indian sub-content, Iran, CIS countries and GCC countries).

Lootah indicated to the free zones in Dubai that allow the investors to own 100% of the project. He explained the GDP rose from 62.3 Billion in 2000 to 110.7 Billion in 2004. He mentioned Iran is a major trading partner to Dubai and both sides can enhance and boost the relationship through encouraging SMEs, joint ventures and direct foreign investments.

Lootah explained than non oil bilateral trade between Dubai and Iran rose from 4 billion 877 million Dirham in 2000 to 12 billion and 183 million Dirham in 2004. Foodstuff, basic metals, machinery, equipment and chemicals products are the major imports and exports from Iran.
