The phones were given as part of the company's appointment as the official mobile phone sponsor for the prestigious golf event.

Mr. Steve Han, General Manager-Telecommunications, Samsung Gulf Electronics said:

'Samsung is committed to the game of golf all across the world. In the Middle East, Samsung has always taken a proactive role in supporting sporting events, and we hope that our endeavour to sponsor one of the world's most prestigious golfing events, the Dubai Desert Classic, will capture the imagination of golf enthusiasts throughout the region.'

The SGH-E760 is the first phone in the Middle East to offer consumers an unprecedented 'Motion recognition' experience. Weighing at 88.4-grams, the phone blends its 'motion and peace' themed-design with advanced features including a 1.3-megapixel camera, MP3 player, MPEG4 video recording, digital imaging in a high-quality 262-K LCD display, embedded stereo speakers, Bluetooth printing and also supports a Bluetooth stereo headset.

'Samsung's support to sport goes far beyond financial patronage. The company contributes to major events through its sophisticated digital wireless telecommunication technology, essential in successful management of the modern day sporting event,' Mr Han added.

Besides Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) as the main sponsor of the Desert Classic, CNN International, Arabian Ranches by Emaar, Nakheel, and Samsung as co-sponsors, other sponsors include: Emirates as official airline and Hole In One Sponsor; official caterer, hotel and challenge match sponsor Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa; Official Bank National Bank of Dubai; official courtesy car BMW; and event newspaper Gulf News.

'Samsung has consistently been recognized for bringing next-generation features and functionalities in today's mobile phones. This innovation has set the standard for what consumers have come to expect from their handsets, and creates a favorable foundation for the successful launch of our upcoming mobile phones. We are confident that the players and the Dubai Desert Classic authorities will benefit from using this functional yet stylish phone during the event,' concluded Sandeep Saighal, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager with Samsung Gulf Electronics.
