Wellbeing show opens tomorrow

The much anticipated Wellbeing Show 2006 opens tomorrow at the Jumeriah Beach Hotel Conference Centre.

The show is open daily from 10AM to 9PM until Saturday.

The Wellbeing Show has developed with the support of the UAE Ministry of Health and HE Hamad Abdul Rahman Al Midfa, the Minister of Heath, is expected to be one of the first visitors.

The event sets out to provide the latest information and innovations covering the whole wellness sector, from complementary health to physical and mental fitness. Under the patronage of one of the world's leading health visionaries, Teresa Hale, the show combines an exhibition and activity stage area, with a unique programme of in-depth seminars and training workshops, featuring globally renowned gurus such as NLP expert Paul McKenna.

According to Ms Virginia Kern, Chairman of the event organisers, F&E, almost 90 exhibitors are taking part. "There is so much on show, from organic food products to herbal remedies and supplements. Weight loss systems, spa treatments, aromatherapy and osteopathy, there's even ergonomically-designed furniture and career opportunities. Just about everything imaginable related to the wellness sector is on show."

The Wellbeing Show includes an action packed calendar of inspiring demonstrations taking place on the Activity Stage. Today's programme starts with a compelling presentation by the UK's leading voice coach Stewart Pearce - he explains how to get the best from our voices.

High energy and action is then assured by California's Dizzy Hips who will show how to Hula Hoop to Health. Best selling yoga teacher Howard Napper then takes to the stage for a series of beginners yoga lessons. Other sessions on Thursday include Juggling for Relaxation, Capoeira, Pilates, Sahaja Yoga Group Meditation, Weight Loss & Exercises, Ceroc Dance Craze, African Dance and the famous Dubai Drums "Interactive Drumming". Ms Kern, said that "the event truly offers something for everybody. The tone is positive and upbeat, it offers inspiration for us all to improve our lifestyles."

The seminar and workshop programme, consisting of 34 individual sessions, also starts today. After the UAE Ministry of Health's Dr Sassan Behjat talks about the local developments and research needs for complementary therapies, the UK's leading nutrition expert Patrick Holford presents two fascinating lectures. The first explains about "Optimum Nutrition for Mind & Body", followed later in the day by another exploring "Food as Medicine".

A number of experts from the Arab world also feature on the opening day programme. These include a presentation by Dr Abdulrahman Musaiger, acclaimed founder of the Bahrain-based Arab Centre for Nutrition, who focuses on 'Barriers to Healthy Eating'. The UAE's Dr Nariman Al Mulla discusses the global physiological crisis of obesity, something she says that be should be of interest to the whole family. Another expert from the region is Dr Yehya Koshak who will provide an extraordinary insight to Traditional Islamic Therapies.

Wellbeing's patron Teresa Hale, famous for setting up arguably the first and most respected complementary and alternative health clinic in London, talks openly about the business side of the wellness industry. Her presentation - 'Setting Up Clinics - The Business of Wellbeing" - will provide some valuable tips for those running clinics or those planning to enter the wellness market .

The Wellbeing Show also proudly present the world-famous astrologer Shelley Von Strunckel. Her popular columns appear in a number of local media and are published worldwide, notably in London's Sunday Times, The Times of India and Hong Kong's South China Morning Post, as well as French and British Vogue. In her first session she shares her thoughts on "Preparing for the Unexpected - Using Astrology to Discover your Destiny & Conquer Today's Challenges". She returns later in the day to explain how to 'Discover Your Purpose in Life Through Astrology'.

Jane Walters adds to Thursday's extensive programme by providing two presentations on . Natural Dermatology. The first describes the concept of 'Bittersweet - Salt and Sugar in the Diet' and second explains how to 'Love Your Skin'.

Friday's programme offers an equally substantial choice of activities, with the added opportunity of attending Paul McKenna's seminar under the theme of "Take Control of Your Life with NLP". He headlines in the main auditorium at 5PM.
