DIFX welcomes Morgan Stanley as member

The Dubai International Financial Exchange (DIFX) today welcomed Morgan Stanley as a member firm.

Morgan Stanley announced in November last year its intention to establish its first office in the Middle East inside the Dubai International Financial Centre, where the DIFX is located.

Morgan Stanley is the seventh firm to become a member of the DIFX since the exchange opened for business on September 26, 2005.

Nasser Al Shaali, Chief Operations Officer of the DIFX commented:
"The DIFX is delighted that Morgan Stanley has joined the exchange. This reinforces the recognition in the financial services community of the growing importance of the exchange and the value it adds to the regional financial landscape."


Dr Georges Makhoul, Managing Director and Morgan Stanley's Regional Head for the Middle East and North Africa, commented: "We are delighted to be one of the first members of the DIFX. The increasing client demand for sophisticated investment solutions demonstrates the growing importance of the region to investors, and the capital markets infrastructure which the DIFX provides will play a significant role in meeting such demand."

The DIFX aims to become the main exchange in its region for equities, bonds, Islamic products, funds, index products and derivatives. The target areas of the DIFX for seeking issuers include the Middle East and North Africa, as well as South Africa, Turkey and the Indian sub-continent.
