The Indian Prime Minister and Sheikh Ahmed discussed key issues relating to the aviation industry, and Sheikh Ahmed also thanked the Indian government for granting the airline additional traffic rights to operate to India.
Sheikh Ahmed and Emirates' senior executives were in India to celebrate the launch of Emirates' new non-stop service between Dubai and Thiruvananthapuram, as well as to mark the strengthening of the airline's air services to two other south Indian cities - Cochin and Chennai.
On 1st February, the Dubai-based airline launched eight-a-week flights to Thiruvananthapuram; enhanced its services to Cochin from five to seven flights a week; and added four more flights to Chennai to serve the city eight times a week.
Emirates currently operates 57 flights a week to six cities in India - Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram - offering convenient air connections to facilitate tourism, business and cargo traffic flows between India and the Middle East, via Dubai.
