A generous donation of AED 100,000, raised through the Al Shaheen Club Charity Putting Competition, was presented to the UAE Red Crescent Society by Mr. Louis Scotto, General Manager Emirates Bank and Tiger Woods, the winner of the 2006 Dubai Desert Classic Championship.
This effort by Emirates Bank betters the donation made by them to the UAE Red Crescent Society after last year's competition, when the Bank managed to raise AED 70,000 towards this worthy cause. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Scotto said 'As a bank that has grown with the UAE, we feel that it is our duty to create a better society by improving lives. Charitable efforts such as the Al Shaheen Club Charity Putting Competition help people contribute towards society and have a great time while doing so, and the increased amounts are proof that people have really warmed up to this idea which is great news for everyone concerned.'
Mr. Mohammad Al Zarooni, the Manager of UAE Crescent Society, was delighted on receiving the AED 100,000 cheque. 'Emirates Bank has always been a strong supporter of our organisation and this is further proof of it. We need pillars of support like this to help us in our work around the region, and the very fact that more and more people can be counted upon to contribute through innovative means like the putting competition is a very encouraging sign. A heartfelt thanks to Emirates bank and all the participants' he said.
