First batch of ICDL Centre at DM Library graduates

A closing ceremony was held recently for the first batch of students at Safa Public Library.

In realization of the vision of the UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in spreading the information culture to all members of the society, nationals as well as expatriates, the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) Centre at the Umm Suqeim Public Library concluded its first ICDL course that was held during 12 November 2005 to 4 January 2006.

AbdulRahman Ibrahim, Acting Head of Public Libraries Section, AbdulAziz Al Hajiri, Supervisor of Safa Public Library, the faculty of the ICDL course and other staff in the library were present on the occasion, where certificates were distributed to those who completed the course.

The Centre received good response from the Arabic and non-Arabic speaking public for joining the course and 70% of the participants were women. The participants were divided into several groups according to the convenience of time, language and requirements of the trainees. There were 40 students in the first batch.
The ICDL Centre, as part of its annual plans and programmes, is currently providing training and conducting tests to a group of employees of the Municipality. This course would be concluded by the end this month. After that the Centre will announce the commencement of the new batch.
