Etisalat presence at Cairo ICT attracts professionals and visitors

Cairo ICT 2006 organizers, Trade Fairs International (TFI), have honored Emirates Telecommunications Corporation- Etisalat for its commitment and constant participation at the event during the past ten years as well as its support to the telecom sector in Egypt.

The award was presented by Osama Kamal, General Manager of TFI.

Etisalat also announced that its participation in the Cairo ICT conference, which was held in Cairo between the 5th and 8th of February 2005, was very successful. One of the key presentations made by senior executives of the Corporation was on GSM and 3G services and applications, and underlined the reputation for innovation that Etisalat enjoys in the region.

Mohammad Hassan Omran, Chairman and CEO, Etisalat, said: "Cairo ICT is considered one of the most important regional events for the telecom and IT industries. This year was an exceptional success, with a record number of participants, activities and events. The success of this conference is a feather in the hat of Egypt, underlining its already impressive telecom achievements. A third GSM operator in this nation would be an invaluable addition."

"Etisalat has showcased a range of innovative and pioneering services. We are in the bidding for the third licence in Egypt, and with our successful participation in this conference and exhibition, our chances of winning are better", he added.

The award to the Corporation for its participation and support towards Cairo ICT follows an award that was given to Etisalat Chairman and CEO, Mohammad Hassan Omran, for his contributions towards the industry and the ICT sector in the region.

Some of the key services that were on display at the Etisalat stand were latest fixed and mobile applications like HSDPA (Hi-Speed Downlink Packet Access), video conferencing on mobile phones, multimedia streaming of TV content and a range of other modern services.

At a 3G symposium during the conference, Etisalat had shown a presentation covering its capabilities and innovative services available to its mobile customers. Etisalat is now equipped to provide services and applications on the 3.5G platform by launching HSDPA. Etisalat is the first operator in the region to launch this service, which will provide mobile users with broadband connectivity speeds on their mobile phones.

In the presentation, Etisalat said that its innovation in terms of providing different technologies and systems matched to different devices has enabled the imminent launch of 'Quad Play' service that will include voice, video, data transfer and wireless connectivity all through one source.

Etisalat also announced the imminent launch of services like Location-Based Services, Instant Messaging, Mobile Gaming, e-Payments and MMS while roaming.
