DCCI receives Sudanese delegation

Mr. Abdul Rahman G. Al Mutaiwee, Director General of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) received a Sudanese delegation headed by Hashim Hago Ibrahim the Vice President of Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation.

Also in attendance was Mr. Sultan Majed Lootah the acting director of business promotion department at DCCI. The meeting discussed ways of enhancing and strengthening the relationship between the two countries and future potential for linking and communicating between the business communities on both sides.

Hago talked about the historical relationship between the two countries. The development of the Sudanese economy has attracted Direct Foreign Investments from China, India, and Malaysia, also some European countries and he spoke of the facilities and opportunities in Sudan. He expressed interest in attracting more investment to Sudan from the gulf region.

Al Mutaiwee expressed the DCCI's willingness to promote investment opportunities in Sudan among the members, as it is considered a sort of value added service offered by DCCI to the members.

The statistics shows that the total volume of non oil bilateral trade between Dubai and Sudan increased from about AED243 million (66 million US Dollars) in year 2000 to AED896 million (144 million US Dollars) in 2004.
