"We are delighted to be opening up these new routes to cater to the growing demand that has been created through increasing trade and tourism between Singapore, the UAE and the Russian Federation," says Stephen Forshaw, Vice President Public Affairs for Singapore Airlines.

"Servicing Abu Dhabi with international routes is a natural step in our developing relationship with UAE. Furthermore, the development of the economy in the Russian Federation has led to a rapid increase in tourism from the region, often encompassing travel to Southeast Asia and beyond."

Both routes will be served by three flights a week, enabling business travel to flow smoothly through the UAE from diverse corners of the world. Singapore Airlines network now encompasses more than 93 destinations in nearly 40 countries and the addition of these new routes will enable the company to reach even more business travellers and holiday travel worldwide, touching them with their renowned in-flight service.

"Dubai's growing presence as a regional business and tourism transit hub provides Singapore Airlines with a natural location to develop our international routes for passengers, as well as our growing cargo business,"

said Mr Jared Lee, General Manager Gulf Region for Singapore Airlines.

In order to celebrate the launch of the new route, Singapore Airlines will be offering promotional fares and packages on both routes throughout March, Mr Lee said.

Tickets must be purchased before the end of February in order to benefit from this promotional offer.

"Singapore Airlines are dedicated to developing a world class network, serving business and holiday travel as well as cargo transport through Singapore Airlines Cargo and our regional subsidiary Silk Air," added Zainul Aljunied Vice President Middle East, North Africa, Turkey & Pakistan Singapore Airlines Cargo. "The additions of both Moscow and Abu Dhabi will be a significant step in the development of our cargo network."

Present at the official announcement today were: Stephen Forshaw, Vice President Public Affairs, Singapore Airlines; Jared Lee, General Manager, Gulf Region - Singapore Airlines; Zainul Aljunied, Vice President - Middle East, North Africa, Turkey & Pakistan - Singapore Airlines Cargo; and Jose Thachil, Marketing Manager - Gulf Region, Singapore Airlines.
