The grand launch follows the opening of Cellucom's showroom in the Daiyah Co-operative Society in Kuwait in January of this year. The expansion plans in Kuwait are part of Cellucom's aggressive new growth strategy for the GCC region. By the end of March 2006, Cellucom will also be opening a showroom at the Al Manshar Mall in Kuwait. The company has announced its plans to have at least 20 locations in Kuwait by the end of first quarter, this year. The announcement of expanded Kuwait operations comes on the heels of opening new retail outlets in UAE and Saudi Arabia.

"The telecommunications sector in Kuwait is poised for dynamic growth over the next few years, with the cellular subscriber base expected to reach 2.17 million by end of 2008, and mobile phone revenues is estimated to touch US$ 1 billion by 2008. The presence and strategic expansion of Cellucom in Kuwait, coupled with our focus on providing value added services and attractive content will further spur the growth of Kuwait's telecommunications sector,"

said Arun Nagar, Managing Director, Cellucom.

"Our presence in the premium shopping malls and Xpress outlets (shop in shops) in key locations in Kuwait, gives customers greater accessibility to a range of high quality mobile communication devices, and helps in extending our brand visibility and image," added Nagar.

Cellucom opened its first retail outlet in Kuwait in 2004 in Al Mubarak Street, Salmiya and also launched its value added service portal UClub, www.uclubme.com, for mobile phone users looking for additional content for their handsets.

Cellucom has adopted a two-pronged approach for its plans in the region by focusing on both its retail outlet and product portfolio expansion. The company is broadening its product line by placing greater emphasis on its concept of 'MOBILITY' to its customers.

"An expanded market presence in the region will enable us to cater to the changing needs of our customers, irrespective of their geographical location. Moreoever, our range of value added services and features will significantly boost customer confidence and build customer loyalty. Mobility will definitely be the core retail focus for Cellucom in high potential markets such as Kuwait. The advancements in technology have allowed greater mobility for customers and we are incorporating this factor into our strategy to expand horizontally into the mobile computing arena as well," added Nagar.
Cellucom has been promoting a range of devices in addition to mobile phones to complement their mobility concept, such as laptops, PDAs, enhancements and IT accessories.

"Cellucom's value added services for the Kuwait market will include life-time & regional warranty and 30 minute repair services. We hope that our customers in Kuwait will make the most of our value added package,"

added Nagar.

The ongoing implementation of the GCC expansion drive that covers Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the UAE have made Cellucom one of the fastest growing retail chains in the region.
