Emirates Driving Institute, first driving institute in Dubai to be visited by DRTA officials
- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, February 18 - 2006 at 12:14
- PRESS RELEASE
The Emirates Driving Institute was privileged to be the the first driving institute in Dubai to be visited by senior Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (DRTA) officials.
This is the first time that senior officials of DRTA, who are responsible for Vehicle Registration and Licensing in Dubai, visited a driving institute in Dubai.
The DRTA officials were impressed by the EDI's spacious lecture room where expert instructors teach the fundamentals of safe driving to students with visual aids and scientifically developed training modules. The visitors were amazed by latest driving simulators at EDI. These simulators are being used to train students to react to all possible road and traffic situations through the movement of indicators, steering wheel and pedals. The DRTA officials were also highly appreciative of EDI's exclusive women's section and its well-organised Test and Traffic department.
Established in 1991, the EDI has been pioneering the spirit of safe motoring through incorporation of international teaching methods and its carefully designed strategies for responsible driving. A recipient of the Dubai Quality Award 2002, EDI strongly believes that excellence is attained and maintained only through strict, periodic evaluations. Incisive internal evaluations are a norm at EDI, and the feedback from the visiting senior officials who are concerned with transport and road safety, would greatly help EDI to further improve its service delivery.
Since its inception fifteen years ago, EDI's team of over 700 highly qualified, multilingual, male and female driving instructors have already put over 150,000 students through their paces. Besides the vast human and physical infrastructural resources at its command, the EDI has also been quick to assimilate global technological breakthroughs in driving training, including the latest driving simulator.
But the EDI's growth into becoming the Middle East's most acclaimed and respected driving training institution is also a result of its sincere efforts to offer proactive solutions for a host of personal hurdles that many students face. Some of these are special timings for students who have shift duty, Friday classes for those who cannot spare time on weekdays, transport facility for those needing it, partial payment option for those who can't pay whole. The list includes even a children's playroom to take care of the kids, while the parent is being trained.
The EDI campus is also a comprehensive one-stop point for all related services. A branch of the Dubai Traffic Department functioning in its campus facilitates file opening, issue of learning permits, enables renewals and provides driving licenses. Students can also get their application typing, eye test and photographing done right within the campus, where they also undergo weekly driving tests in the same type of vehicle used to train them.
