Intersec '06 59% up on '05

Featuring 450 exhibitors from over 40 countries, the organizers, Messe Frankfurt, commissioned independent research and visitor audits. This revealed an increase of 59% on visitor traffic, notching up a total of 14,523 specialist and trade visits from over 20 countries during the three day programme.

The show, opened by His Excellency Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Lieutenant General, Commander in Chief, Dubai Police continues to receive support of the UAE's government departments such as the Dubai Police Force and the UAE Ministry of Interior, Dubai Civil Defence. It's continued success and substantial growth reflects the great emphasis placed upon security and public safety issues throughout the Gulf area.

Intersec 2006 also proved to be a great success for exhibitors who successfully conducted serious business deals and promoted their new products and services to the region's buyers. More than 1,200 brands were presented during the show.

Amongst the large number of exhibitors who registered trading information with the organisers, NAFFCO, the largest supplier of fire equipment in the Middle East, accumulated a massive order book. Khalid Al Khatib, Naffco's CEO, said "this year we saw double the international visitors from previous years. We have sold 10 fire trucks to Kuwait and another 20 to various other clients with an approximate value of Dhs30million."

Roger Whitting from Citytec said, "Intersec 2006 has been a tremendous success, with a hoard of visitors from the Gulf region. The main attractions in Citytec's Special Equipment area of the stand were the Ls X-ray baggage screeners, EZI Truck stopper, AtlasOps Incident Management Software and the Emergency Deployment Airelight". Citytec closed two deals worth $1 million and $1.5 million.

The International Police, Fire and Safety Conference, which took place over the three days, featured 30 of the world's most renowned experts in their field. Imke Huelsmann, exhibition manager, said, "we hosted over 40 of the world's leading police, fire and safety experts including Tarique Ghaffur, Assistant Commissioner of London's Metropolitan Police."

Ms Huelsmann also said that "response to the support of Dubai Police Force and Ministry of Interior Dubai Civil Defence has been exceptional". Messe Frankfurt were honoured that His Excellency Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Lieutenant General, Commander in Chief, Dubai Police opened Intesec and addressed the police conference. We were also pleased to welcome Colonel Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Head of Dubai Civil Defence, who opened and addressed the Fire conference.

Other internationally respected speakers included Andrew Trotter, Deputy Chief Constable of the British Transport Police, Bill Tillbrook, Chief Superintendent, Head of Clubs and Vice Department, Metropolitan Police, London, David Scott, Head of Specialist Operations Group for the London Fire Brigade and Frank Cruthers, First Deputy Commissioner of the New York Fire Department.

Intersec is the largest security event in the Middle East and the organisers are confident that next year's show, set for the Dubai World Trade Centre 6th to 8th January '07, will continue to grow and meet both exhibitor and visitor expectations. Many leading exhibitors have already booked their space and enhanced their show presence for 2007.
