DM stall at Gulfood attracts attention

Khalid Mohammed Shareef, Assistant Director of Public Health Department and Head of Food Control Section said the Municipality is participating for the sixth time in the exhibition, which has stalls of many global companies in the field of food products and food processing machinery.

More than 1,800 companies from 65 countries participate in the exhibition, which showcases Food and Beverage, Food Processing Machinery, Hotel Equipment, Refrigeration Equipment, Foodservice Equipment, Hotel Supplies & Services, Food Packaging, Labeling Equipment, Coding and Measuring Equipment, Disposable Items, Hospitality Information Systems, and Bakery & Confectionery products/Equipment.

Shareef said the Municipality's participation in this type of an exhibition is aimed at supporting and offering consultancy to these companies on the rules, specifications, procedures and monitoring systems regarding the safety of the foodstuff that is currently circulated in the country and produced here.

"By the participation of the Municipality in the exhibition during the previous years we felt that the companies investing in the foodstuff business need to be briefed further on the rules and regulations as well as the hygiene specifications of the country," he said.

He added that this role is bestowed upon the Municipality as it provides details of the rules and specifications approved by the Food Control Section in this regard.

Shareef said the Public Health Department in Dubai Municipality is organizing the Dubai International Food Safety Conference alongside Gulfood 2006 on the 20th, 21st and 22nd February at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
