A big draw among the UAE nationals, the event is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders.

The championship is part of the successful efforts to popularize traditional sports among the young generation UAE nationals and preserve the rich culture and heritage of the emirate.

Mr. Abdullah said: 'This competition will pit the skills of the best falconry experts and provide a showcase of a traditional Arabian sport to the visitors at the Global Village. Competitors will vie for the Alharar, Alshahin and Altbouaa categories of the contest.'

Under instructions from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to use modern technology, the organizers will be utilizing, for the first time, three cameras to track the distance and speed of the competing falcons.

Winning falcon hunters in three categories will get cars as the prizes.

Mr. Abdullah thanked both the Al Tayer Motors and Dubai Islamic Bank for their support and cooperating to make this competition a huge success every year.
