- PRESS RELEASE
Oxford Business Group, in association with the Economic Development board and other local research partners, held a press conference today at the Rotunda at the Ritz Carlton to announce the forthcoming publication Emerging Bahrain 2006.
Emerging Bahrain 2006 will be the second annual economic and business review undertaken by OBG in the Kingdom of Bahrain, following the internationally acclaimed volume Emerging Bahrain 2005, published last year. To conduct its research, OBG will continue its close relationship with its core research partners, Economic Development Board (EDB), Securities and Investment Company (SICO), Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) and Qays H Zu'bi.
Emerging Bahrain 2006 will comprise more than 60 pages of overview and analysis of the political and economic environment in the Kingdom, followed by a 100 page sector by sector study, covering the major economic sectors of the economy - including financial services (in association with SICO), energy, tourism, telecoms, transport infrastructure, construction and real estate, media and advertising. Finally a detailed analysis of the legal and accountancy environment will be provided by PWC and Qays H. Zu'bi, as a guide to the regulatory framework for those who wish to do business in Bahrain.
To produce this annual book, a team of six OBG analysts are currently based in the EDB's offices in Bahrain over six months, the analysts will conduct some 200 interviews with leading political and economic figures in Bahrain as part of their extensive "in-country" research.
Throughout this period, the team will work closely with Economic Development Board, which plays an instrumental role as facilitator for the team, assisting with data collection, research and access.
Andrew Jeffreys, Editor in Chief said; "We are delighted to be working in collaboration with the Economic Development Board for the second consecutive year as part of our research on Bahrain. We have had extensive subscriber interest in the Kingdom and hope that our research will be a valuable tool in detailing the extensive investment opportunities that are present."
Oxford Business Group's Emerging Markets Series is critically acclaimed and was recently hailed by Newsweek as one of the most authoritative guides available on the GCC economies.
Speakers at the conference: HE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Essa Al Khalifa, CE of EDB, Ms Elham Hassan, Managing Partner of PriceWaterHouse Coopers, Mr. Anthony Mallis, CEO of SICO, Ms Michelle Solomon, Country Director OBG, Mr. Damian Nixon, Country Editor OBG.
