Bahrain Mobility International, which has been working to support the disabled in Bahrain for 26 years, aims to raise BD13,000 for the 6-seater bus that will be used to transport disabled children to and from school and will provide general transportation for children and adults.
BMI's two existing buses are used to transport its 500-plus disabled and able-bodied members. A third, says BMI's Vice President, Adel Sultan Al Mutawa, will greatly improve the lives of its members: "We are deeply thankful to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for generously making his golf course available for this event. We also thank our sponsors and the participants for their support in turning this into such a successful event which we hope to be able to hold again next year," Al Mutawa said.
The main sponsor for the charity event was Riffa Views, the luxury property development company based at Riffa Golf Club. Yasser Abdulla, Riffa Views Managing Director said:
"We are delighted to have the opportunity to help towards providing a new bus for disabled children and adults that will greatly improve mobility and open up all sorts of new possibilities."
The event was attended by Mounira bin Hindi President of Bahrain Mobility and Mr Faleh bin Hindi, Sports Advisor to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Almost 100 participants competed in the event at a cost of BD15 per member of Riffa Golf Club, and BD50 per guest. Associate Sponsors included Gulf Air, EBEL, Bahrain Duty Free, and Well Flow International. The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) has also pledged a generous contribution to Bahrain Mobility International.
