  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, February 20 - 2006 at 14:07
  • PRESS RELEASE

An official delegation from the Public Institution for Social Security in Kuwait has recently visited the UAE General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting highlighted several key issues such as the unified extended insurance indemnity plan which covers all GCC nationals working in public and private sectors within the GCC countries.
Abdul Rahman Al Baqer, GPSSA Deputy Director General said: "This meeting comes in line with GCC countries efforts to enable their social security authorities to maintain a close cooperation in a bid to elevate the level of insurance services.

He added that social security authorities are currently focusing on the mechanism of the unified extended insurance indemnity plan that will be implemented retroactively as of January 2006, if the necessary legislation is delayed, without penalties to be enforced as per the recommendation of the GCC heads of retirement and social security authorities.

Participants also discussed the memorandum of the GCC General Secretariat including assignment of the team charged to follow up on the implementation of the unified extended insurance indemnity plan, which was discussed during the 25th Gulf Summit held in Manama.

This meeting is one of a series of meetings that are organized between GCC representatives of retirement and social security authorities in accordance with the recommendations of the presidents of the civil retirement and social security authorities. GPSSA has received a Saudi delegation from the general Organization for Social Insurance last month and discussed several topics related to social security.
