AXI-Messenger empowers mobile users to chat simultaneously with several contacts using the popular ICQ, MSN, AOL, Google and Yahoo! instant messaging services.

AXI-Messenger is the first multi-platform instant messaging application for mobile users in the Middle East and the launch extends Axiom's pioneering portfolio of value added services which includes live sports football alerts, prayer reminders, business and financial news.

Custom-made and branded by Axiom Telecom, the Middle East's largest retailer for mobile wireless products, the application uses the same username and password for all chat programmes. The user's contact list is automatically downloaded and updated on AXI-Messenger.

The launch follows publication of a report by Pew Internet that found three-quarters of teenagers use instant messaging applications in preference to email when talking to each other. AXI-Messenger now allows them to chat even when they are not hard wired to a computer.

Although the launch marks the first of its kind for Axiom, yet the AXI-Messenger application already offers many services that go beyond the basic text chatting such as instantly sharing photos, sound files and videos with online friends.

Standard IM application features such as contact status information, data usage counter, storing conversation history, split screen messaging interface, emoticons support and an auto update downloader and installer are also available.

The application further supports Arabic script targeting the mass audience in the GCC region.

The service is available to users of Nokia 3650, 3660, 6620, 6260, 6630, 6600, 6670, 7610,N90, N70, N92, N-GAGEQD, 9500 and 9300 models, as well as owners of Sony Ericsson P900, P910 and P800 mobile devices.
