150 participants for 4th Al Fazza Falcon Hunting Championship

The Al Fazza Falcon Hunting Championship near the Global Village that started from February 22 and scheduled to close tomorrow (February 24) has attracted more than 150 participants this year.

A big draw among the UAE nationals, the event is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders.

The championship is part of the successful efforts to popularize traditional sports among the young generation UAE nationals and preserve the rich culture and heritage of the emirate.

The three-day championship is being sponsored by Al Tayer Motors and Dubai Islamic Bank.

Mr. Abdullah Hamdan Bin Dalmouk, General Supervisor of Al Fazza Championship said : "The competition is being in the Alharar, Alshahin and Altbouaa categories and the prizes will be given away by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum tomorrow."

The competition is being held over a distance of 350 metres.

Under instructions from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to use modern technology, the organizers utilized for the first time, three cameras to track the distance and speed of the competing falcons.

The participants urged Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to establish a club for falcon hunting that would act as a source of encouragement for all falcon hunters.

Tomorrow, Fazza Al Youla competition will be held for children under 13 years at the Al Medan Citadel, Global Village. Those who wish to participate should register before 4 p.m.
