The service includes a range of CNN's feature programs, ranging from those covering technology and the environment to lifestyle and design programs. A CNN anchor introduces the shows on offer with a personalized greeting. The total line-up on offer to Royal Jordanian passengers will be a selection of programs that includes 'Inside the Middle East', 'CNN Business Traveller', 'Global Office', 'Global Challenges', 'Design 360' and the latest addition to CNN's feature programs, 'Art of Life'.
"We are delighted to add Royal Jordanian Airlines to our growing number of in-flight clients," said Phil Lawrie, Vice President Commercial Distribution and Digital Media Sales.
"CNN is a must-see for the international traveler as the world's leading news and information channel and in-flight entertainment is providing a new and important way for CNN viewers to watch with CNN's international programming when on the move."
The inclusion of CNN is part of Royal Jordanian's objective of providing optimal passenger convenience onboard its aircraft. It now flies with the TopSeries system on its new Airbus aircraft, which were recently added to the fleet.
"Under the modernization process, the airline offers all its passengers audio and video on demand (AVOD) services onboard the modern newly-manufactured aircraft, which will continue joining the fleet within the year. RJ is the first airline to line-fit entire Airbus 320/321 with AVOD, marking a milestone in in-flight entertainment (IFE) system. We are delighted to have CNN as one of the channels we will be offering our passengers with the launch of this new premium service," said the president/CEO of Royal Jordanian, Samer Majali.
The Royal Jordanian system includes 10.4" displays in business class and 8.4" displays in economy. In-seat power and noise canceling technology are also available at every seat. This means that each passenger can now enjoy watching his/her favorite program on a special screen installed on every business and economy seat.
Royal Jordanian currently operates 21 aircraft. They include Airbus 310, Airbus 320, Airbus 321, Airbus 340, Dash8-400, Dash8-300 and Fokker 28. The airline's fleet will reach around 30 aircraft in the coming two years. Its operations cover 51 worldwide destinations on four continents.
RJ joins other leading airlines from around the world that offer CNN to their clients, including American Airlines, BA, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, KLM, Singapore Airlines, Austrian Airlines and many other airlines.
