Software Engineering Technology (SWET) students, Zainab Salman and Ayesha Ali worked with the Development Support Team in Munich from January 9-28, 2006. This was the first time that DWC placed students in Germany to gain work experience which is a graduate requirement.

'The Team at Microsoft Munich saw the DWC students' great practical understanding and usage of their skills and we got the impression that they were able to get an inside view of our support life behind developers scenes,' stated Michael Clemens, Microsoft Munich. 'We're all thankful to gain a perspective of the Arabic culture and its relations to software design engineers which does have some interesting, often fun, creative differences, when compared to Western European behaviour.'

The students were very enthusiastic about the opportunity to gain work experience as well as culture knowledge in their international setting. 'This was a unique opportunity to live and work with the local people in Germany, and experience a different culture and way of life, stated Zainab Salman, SWET student. 'There is no training, teaching or coursework that compares to the real life work experience we had at Microsoft.'

'We would like to thank Microsoft for being our 'Partner for Success' by supporting these two motivated young ladies with their overseas internships,' stated Dr. Howard Reed, Director, DWC. 'This international exposure provided them with the opportunity to examine realistic issues related to their field of study, increase their professional skills and enhance them as people.' The students were generously sponsored by Microsoft and the National Bank of Dubai.
