Emirates Post and Iran Post to boost collaboration in IT, money transfer, parcel and mail hub services

Emirates Post and Iran Post have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that focuses on increased cooperation in IT, money transfer, parcel delivery and mail hub services.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Mohammed Hassan Mohebiyan, Chairman of the Board & Managing Director, Iran Post, and Mr. Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General, Emirates Post, in Tehran. A separate MoU was signed with Mr. Mahmoud Hassan Zadeh, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Post Bank of Iran, to promote money transfer between the two countries.

The Emirates Post delegation consisted of Mr. Abdullah Al Fan, Assistant Director General, Development & Marketing, Mr. Mohammed bin Shaker, Assistant Director General, Zones and Mr. Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Head of International Affairs.

"This visit will lead to more efficient postal and money transfer services between the UAE and Iran," commented Mr. Al Daboos. "We had fruitful discussions with officials from Iran Post and Post Bank of Iran. Following the signing of the MoU, separate teams have stated working on implementing the various projects listed in the agreement."

Mr. Daboos said Emirates Post has offered Iran Post technological expertise in postal automation, especially through the acclaimed POS system that allows multiple services to be dispensed from a single counter as well as information access by the accounts department.

Emirates Post team also briefed Iran Post officials on the services of the Dubai Airport Mail Transit Hub which has emerged as the regional mail hub for mail bound for the GCC, the rest of the Middle East, North and East Africa, the Far East, Australia and Indian Subcontinent. Both sides agreed to promote each other's transit hub.

The MoU also lists improved and fast-track parcel delivery through Emirates Post's Guaranteed Parcel and Guaranteed Express Parcel services. In addition, the agreement calls for increased cooperation in the Money Order service as well as the 'Instant Cash' service that allows fast-track money transfer to any part of the world.

Mr. Al Daboos extended an invitation to top officials of Iran Post and Post Bank Iran to visit the UAE to boost postal ties further.
