"We are the only vendor to tackle the full lifecycle of spyware with a multi-layered approach across the enterprise network,"
said Justin Doo, managing director, Trend Micro Middle East and Africa. "This layered approach allows us to prevent, detect, block, and clean spyware as well as other grayware and malware as part of a comprehensive solution for large companies. This appliance gives our customers additional ammunition - and greater choice - for protecting their IT investments and end users from spyware and other harmful threats."
Overall, the appliance extends the benefits of Trend Micro's Enterprise Protection Strategy. It gives business organizations a greater choice in gateway protection, introducing an easy-to-deploy hardware option that complements Trend Micro's award-winning software-based InterScan offerings. In addition, the InterScan Web Security Appliance can work with Trend Micro's various standalone and integrated anti-spyware solutions, such as Trend Micro™ Anti-Spyware Enterprise Edition™ and OfficeScan™, to provide a flexible, multi-layered security solution that defends every end point in a business network - from Internet gateways to Web servers to desktops.
The arrival of InterScan Web Security Appliance occurs at a time when spyware and many other content security threats are presenting daunting challenges for IT organizations and end users. For instance, in July 2005 Trend Micro conducted a global survey of enterprise end users that revealed 39 per cent of respondents felt that IT could do more to prevent them from falling victim to spyware and phishing. That same year, a survey conducted by IDC revealed that spyware was considered the second greatest security threat among enterprise organizations.
