"The iPatch System with System Manager 5.0 software offers data center managers the tools they need to control and manage physical infrastructure connections. From the equipment cabinets to the manager's desk, it is tailored to deliver the information needed to provide faster fault correction along with improved security and network management,"
said Dominic Morris, sales director - Middle East, North Africa & Pakistan, SYTIMAX Solutions.
George Brooks, Global Business Director, CommScope Enterprise Emerging Products, added: "Data center managers are faced with very different network challenges when compared to IT managers, and the SYSTIMAX iPatch System reflects this. Post 9/11, the majority of data centers have moved into more remote locations, pushing remote administration firmly up the agenda. Risk management issues are also set to continue to be key in 2006 and this solution has been designed to reduce the burden of technology risk management."
As well as managing connectivity, the iPatch System makes it easier to deploy networked devices such as servers by automatically adding them to racks and cabinets and recording their locations accurately in its database. The system can also handle devices with multiple network connections, while cutting ongoing costs by automating routine management tasks. In addition, it is designed to increase productivity by assisting technicians in completing their work orders and service provisioning.
To save installation time in data centers, iPatch pre-terminated fiber shelves are available in options with LC or SC connector interfaces for patching and MPO connectors in the rear for plug and play cabling. For high performance copper connections in the data centers, Intelligent Panels are also available for the 10 Gb/s GigaSPEED® X10D Solution.
Steve Cullen, Global Network Services, Marsh & McLennan Companies, noted that, "The role of making sure that networks run smoothly has meant we had to spend time travelling between sites to ensure everything is operating as it should, as well as absorbing the extra cost of dedicated on-site personnel. We installed the iPatch System in our new data center in the UK and the remote administration aspect of the solution has dramatically changed the support model, giving us greater confidence in the network and minimizing risks involved in every day business. The system allows us to tell if a device has been added or removed, which dramatically reduces our technology risk. This has lead to changing the standard specification for new facilities across the group to ensure we consider real time infrastructure management at the design phase."
The iPatch System with System Manager 5.0 software will be available globally and more information can be found at www.systimax.com or at your local SYSTIMAX Solutions office.
