Sheikh Ahmed inaugurates Dubai International Airport Operations Data Management Center

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai and Chairman of Emirates Group, inaugurated the Airport operations Data Management Center a new section at Dubai International Airport, that takes care of the collection; storage; accuracy checking and distribution of airport operational data.

On this occasion he commented: "With the continence tremendous growth of Dubai International Airport; Emirates Airlines; Dnata and other aviation partners, The Department of Civil aviation, Dubai insists in adopting the latest technologies in the aviation industry worldwide. We believe that information sharing is very vital especially in this industry in order to make better decisions.'

Mr Mohammad Ahli, Director Operations, DCA, commented: "As Dubai's profile as a leading business and top leisure destination increases each year, air traffic movement is rapidly increasing at Dubai International Airport. In the year 2005 DIA registered 217,165 aircraft movement which is 11% increase over 2004. The adaptation of aircraft movement data management in this new section will defiantly allow our strategic partners to get the right information in the right time, which will result in better decisions making and ensure our alignment with our strategic goals."

The Airport operations Data Management Center will provide the below advantages to DIA:

- One point of operational data contact for flight processes and resources during normal and abnormal events or circumstances.

- Broadcast of operational flight data services promptly and accurately.

- Generate real-time system data for smoother passenger's guidance.

- Recorded flight related financial data including passenger service charges.

- Produce KPI's for operational audits.

- Record and effectively use various flight movement messages coming to DIA from other airports, airlines and handling agents.

- Help in better Control of all flight handling processes from landing to take-off.
