Emirates Post and the Asia Pacific Postal College, Bangkok, have resolved to enhance mutual cooperation in training matters, following a recent visit by an Emirates Post team to Thailand.
The Emirates Post team held discussions with Mr. Somchai Reopanichkal, Director of APPU and Asia Pacific Postal College and explored the potential for future partnerships. The team toured the various training facilities at the college and familiarized themselves with the range of training courses on offer.
The APPU was founded with the participation of 29 postal corporations from the Asia Pacific region, under the UPU umbrella. The Asia Pacific Postal College, established in 1970, conducted basic and advanced training courses for member postal organizations.
The Emirates Post team also met Mrs. Pranee Suwanawat, Head of Human Resources, Thailand Post, who briefed them on the advancements made by Thailand Post, especially in the area of employee training. The team also visited the sophisticated sorting centre of Thailand Post in Bangkok, and one of the post offices.
The Emirates Post team briefed the College on the training programs conducted by the Emirates Post Training Centre since 2003, and other programs for developing HR within the organization.
Emirates Post's Training & Development Centre conducted training courses for 2,047 persons during 2005. The Centre has won recognition from UPU and ICDL. It won a Stevie award (known as the Oscars among business awards) in the 'Best New Product/Service' category in 2005.
