Qatar largest market for World's top marine emissions system
- Qatar: Sunday, March 05 - 2006 at 16:19
- PRESS RELEASE
The Arabian Gulf state of Qatar is currently the largest market for MariNOx®, the world's first emissions monitoring system for pollutants in exhaust gas from ships, according to Martek Marine, the global leader in marine safety and environmental monitoring products.
MariNOx® will be installed on LNG tankers for the Qatar Gas II project.
"The Middle East has become a very important market for us and we expect to secure another order for a further eight MariNOx® systems in Qatar over the next six months, "said Duncan Gaskin, Area Sales Manager - Middle East, Martek Marine.
"Forward thinking companies in the region, and those who have international environmental quality standards, will inevitably adopt direct monitoring as the most legitimate method of demonstrating exhaust emission quantities."
Martek's full MariNOx® system, launched in June last year, will make its exhibition debut at Seatrade Middle East Maritime (SMEM) 2006, the region's leading exhibition and conference for the shipping business industries.
"In addition to MariNOx®, we will launch a new fuel saving facility which will be able to save two large stroke engines between US$100,000 and US$500,000 per annum," added Gaskin.
SMEM 2006, which will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre from December 4-6, will feature the prestigious annual Gala Presentation Dinner for the Seatrade Dubai International Maritime Awards (DIMAs). The dinner will be held on Monday, 4 December, the first day of SMEM 2006. Details about the awards scheme and the presentation dinner are available from the organisers.
"SMEM 2006 and this year's annual DIMAs will be a laboratory of leading edge technology and we already have many of the foremost international and regional maritime companies confirmed to exhibit at SMEM, with country pavilions from 10 nations including China, France, Germany, Holland and India," said Christopher Hayman, Managing Director, Seatrade.
Principal SMEM 2006 sponsors are Gulf Energy Maritime (GEM) and Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL).
The event is also sponsored by Aalborg Industries; Aqua Group; BP Marine; Bulk Shipping & Trading; Charter Trade Global LLC; Dubai Drydocks; HSBC; Lloyd's Register; Nico International; Norton Rose; Scan-Trans Middle East.
SMEM 2006 is officially supported and sponsored by Dubai Maritime City and the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). It is also supported by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and DP World.
