Real Estate Department officials visit DM

A Dubai Real Estate Department delegation led by its Deputy Director General, Nasser Mubarak Al Mansouri, visited Dubai Municipality's Karama Centre on Sunday to learn about the working of its newly set up counters.

The delegation, which also included Mohammed Juma Bushaneen, Director of Customer Service, was received by Eng. Ismail AbdulRahim Shaabaan, Head of Karama Centre.

The delegation, which toured the facilities at the Centre to know about other services provided to the public, was also briefed on the organizational structure and tasks of the Centre.

Shaabaan said the Centre was set up in a bid to decentralize the services of the Municipality and to felicitate a smooth and easy delivery of the same so that the public can finish their transactions without maneuvering heavy traffic and have the strain of finding a parking space near the main office.

He said the Centre, which has been instrumental in reducing the heavy pressure on the main office, received 6,137 transactions during February. The Centre offers a variety of civic services including various transactions related to municipal fees, fines, food establishments, environment inspection, public health, drainage, irrigation, building licensing, engineering supervision, and waste services, apart from services of the Car Parking Department and Public Transport Department of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (DRTA).

As for the facility to pay municipal fees the Centre receives fees for hotels and hotel apartments, parking fines, environment fines...etc. apart from the refund of security deposits and sale of prepaid parking cards.

The Food Control Section counter receives applications for food establishment inspection, licensing of food establishments, inspection of foodstuff in schools, warehouses, restaurants and cafeterias, and inspection of food containers meant for warehouses.

The Car Parking Department of DRTA offers its services at the centre such as: receiving complaints regarding parking, request for public parking during promotional campaigns, request for using outdoor areas for restaurants and cafeterias, parking fines...etc.

The Clinic and Medical Services Section counter offers transactions related to inspection of private clinics and health establishments, hair cutting saloons (male and female), medical labs, private and social clubs, mosques and general facilities, labour camps, pharmacies, medical warehouses, nurseries and kindergartens, water tanks, and swimming pools.

The Drainage and Irrigation Department counter receives and follows up complaints from the public with regard to fines issued by the Drainage Monitoring and Development Section and defines drainage fees, apart from receiving applications for house drainage connections, issuing of dewatering permits, no-objection certificates for food establishments, and approval of drainage drawings.

The Building Department's counter at the centre receives various applications related to building licensing, road corridor interlock applications, applications for setting up wedding tents and Ramadan tents, décor licenses, and building demolition applications. It also issues building completion certificates, among a variety of other services to building and construction activities.

The health monitoring unit deals with applications of various health establishments while the Public Transport Department's counter offers subscription cards on sale and respond to passengers' queries on routes of the coaches. Counter of the waste services section receives applications for removing waste, offers plastic waste bags, and provides vehicles to carry sewage water.
