Announcing the future plans, Mr. Arvind Nair, Chief Operating Officer, Jumbo Electronics, said:
"It has been a fantastic 2005 for us overall. We have consolidated as a group, our figures look very strong and we are poised on the threshold of rapid local and regional growth. Currently, most of the regional markets are robust with high growth forecast, increase in per capita income and expected spurt in tourism. In line with the market expectations, Jumbo has decided to strengthen its presence in the coming months and expand into future growth markets including Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and few African markets like Sudan."
As it unveiled its future growth path, Jumbo also confirmed that SONY is the biggest selling brand for the company, followed closely by HP, Nokia, Sony-Ericcson amongst others. High growth products included cameras, flat panels, MP3 players, laptops amongst others.
In line with the vision of its Founder, Jumbo Electronics also announced more Corporate Social Responsibility related initiatives. The group has decided to formalize the CSR function with a Core Committee that will channelise funding from the departments into deserving local and international charities, including the Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs.
Also on the agenda is an Emiratisation programme. With a commitment to the development and progress of UAE, Jumbo has taken up the initiative to partner with the Government in ensuring that the national Human Resources find adequate representation at various levels of the hierarchy in the organization.
Mr. Nair added: "Our objective at Jumbo is to strategically create effective opportunities aimed at developing the talents of our national workforce. The purpose is to equip UAE nationals with the knowledge and skills needed to function within a changing economy and create a society which can share the responsibilities and challenges that come with economic development. At Jumbo, we realize the need for in-depth training and this is the reason why one of the most favored places to work for in today."
Jumbo also realizes the need to evolve continuously as the consumer becomes more sophisticated and savvy by adopting new technology. Highlighting trends for the future, Jumbo believes that 'Customization' will continue to dominate as top priority for customers, with an innate desire for individual preferences.
