"We work hand in hand with the BIC to address their needs and as a result we have once again scaled our operations to cope with the expected increase in visitors this year," said Batelco Head of Corporate Affairs Ahmed Al Janahi.

"Batelco's infrastructure and services at the circuit are ready for action and supported with back up equipment should it be required."

"The necessary task force is also fully prepared to implement and ensure the smooth operation of this communication network. This will ensure reliable mobile technology, data services and Internet services, providing the essential links for the media and the public," added Mr. Al Janahi.

To check the efficiency of equipment and services for the Bahrain Gulf Air Grand Prix, Batelco recently tested a range of their services in the presence of a small group of VIP invitees at the BIC.

Batelco's technical team tested WiFi, FreeData that uses EDGE technology to connect to the Internet, GSM coverage and Batelco Mobile Office (BMO) utilising GPRS technology to receive emails on mobile phones.

"We were delighted to be provided with the opportunity to ensure that all our services are up to world class standards to cope with the demands from the thousands of visitors and international media that are expected to attend the Bahrain Gulf Air Grand Prix," continued Mr. Al Janahi.

Batelco, an official and proud sponsor of the BIC, is delighted to support the Bahrain Gulf Air Grand Prix and the wide range of motor sports events that take place during the year at the circuit.

"The Formula One event is an ideal opportunity to promote the Kingdom of Bahrain and show the world that Batelco is capable of providing world class communications for this world class event," concluded Mr Al Janahi.
