- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, March 08 - 2006 at 10:39
- PRESS RELEASE
The UAE Human Resource Development Committee in the Banking sector has presented an appreciation award to Ray Ferguson, Chief Executive, Standard Chartered UAE recognising his constant support and ongoing commitment to Emiratisation.
"We at Standard Chartered Bank are committed to harness local talent and Emiratisation is an integral part our long-term strategy in the UAE," said Ray Ferguson after receiving the award during the opening ceremony of the 8th National Career Exhibition for Banking and Financial Sector. "We believe this will help develop the local workforce and ensure the banking sector is at level comparable to other leading financial markets around the world."
Standard Chartered is working hard to develop some of the UAE's most comprehensive training schemes and place significance in the professional training of recruits and existing staff members.
Standard Chartered has partnered with several educational institutes in the UAE to ensure the highest standards for the development of Emirati talent. The Al Mawarid Induction Program was tailored together with the Emirates Institute of Banking & Finance in Sharjah (EIBFS) to provide trainees the fundamental principles of banking operations. The program, launched December 2004, graduates the first set of inductees later this month.
In conjunction with Tanmia, Standard Chartered Bank has developed two training schemes for already hired UAE employees. The 'Entry Level Banking Curriculum' levels 1 and 2 provide each recruit with the knowledge and confidence to settle into their assigned job roles.
"The strength of our partnerships with Tanmia and EIBFS allows us to provide a complete package for every potential UAE candidate looking for a career in the banking industry," added Ferguson, "that lead to global career opportunities right here in the UAE. As a leading international bank which is focused on becoming the 'World's Best International Employer of Choice', and with 1200 branches in 56 countries, we present to these candidates an extraordinary range of career opportunities".
