DBWC president urges women: Be fearless

To make significant contributions to the regional economy, women in the Middle East have been urged to be fearless in their efforts to succeed in business.

Speaking at the 8th Global Businesswomen and Leaders' Forum today, Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC) President Mrs. Rajaa Al Gurg encouraged women to be fearless whenever they face challenges. She said women should not sleep till their problems are solved. She said they should be flexible to accept change.

"Keep discovering new ideas until you find the best for your business," Mrs. Rajaa told the audience who attended the forum organized by Datamatix and DBWC at the Burj Al Arab, Dubai, UAE.

Held in time for International Women's Day, the annual conference sought to empower women professionals in the region. It was designed for experienced women leaders in the business sector in the upper-middle and senior levels of management, including emerging and successful traders.

The gathering included informative presentations and open discussions. It also gave networking opportunities for conference delegates.

The forum organizers invited international speakers to discuss a number of issues, such as the challenges facing women entrepreneurs, investment opportunities for businesswomen, women in politics and empowering Saudi Arabian businesswomen, among others.

In her speech titled the "Future of Businesswoman in Middle East," Mrs. Rajaa laid down her vision for empowering women in business. She talked about women's participation in the regional economy, knowledge, technology, communication, globalization, entrepreneurial spirit, as well as the need to promote leadership among women.

To realize these goals, Mrs. Rajaa stressed the need to identify economic opportunities for women, as well as develop business strategies and skills.

Her speech touched a number of points, including education and empowerment, information technology tools, networking to share knowledge and development of leadership skills, among others.

Mrs. Rajaa pointed out the need to conduct follow-ups on the implementation of plans for women's empowerment. She cited the need for building future business, identifying loops and weaknesses in approaches and sharing of knowledge and information.

She said women should have an eye for innovation and called on them to participate in all types of business.
