- PRESS RELEASE
Autodesk announced its new discount policy today, directed at giving access to Autodesk's leading design software solutions to engineering students and teachers.
"Students and teachers now pay only 5% of the price of Autodesk's AutoCAD, Architectural and Mechanical software products, which makes it really affordable to them. Students, teachers and universities should know that they do have the possibility to buy original software. They do not have to go against the law by purchasing illegally copied software simply because it is cheaper" commented Autodesk's regional director Ahmad Al-Jassim, " Educators need AutoCAD in order to develop engineering students' IT skills, and we want to give them this possibility"
Autodesk which is a member company in the Business Software Alliance (BSA), develops leading design solutions for industries such as manufacturing, architectural & building design, general design, land development and geographic information systems. Built on the AutoCAD foundation, these industry-specific design solutions are largely used in organizations, enhancing workflow and increasing collaboration. Since IT knowledge is a must for recruiters, AutoCAD skills as often regarded as essential for engineering students when they reach the job market.
The Business Software Alliance was quick to applaud this move as expressed by its regional Director, Jawad Al Redha:
"The education segment is a priority for us. Every student should have access to original software to develop her or his IT skills, and by offering this discount Autodesk is ensuring that students do not have to buy pirated copies to work on their projects at home. Copies are full of viruses and are not supported, which takes away from the value that they bring to students".
Students will have access to this discount at all Autodesk reseller outlets by simply presenting their school or university identification card.
"We really praise Autodesk for this initiative", added Al-Redha, this shows their commitment to this market and the role that they want to play in fighting illegal software. We hope that much more companies will join this initiative and that households in the Middle East will no longer have to buy illegal software copies".
