Antoine Herteman, Vice President Middle East and Indian Peninsula, Renault, said, "The new Laguna is available in the Saudi market in two new models this year, the Laguna Hatch and Sportback. Both models comprise the new upgrade of safety standard set in the D segment in Europe plus the Euro NCAP rating of five stars in safety testing."

He added that all of Laguna's active and passive safety features have been improved in the 2006 models, which are now equipped with the third-generation Renault System for Restraint and Protection and a more efficient braking system.

Herteman also pointed out the successful partnership between Renault and Zahid Tractor which resulted in the past few years in creating a very distinguished position for Renault cars in the Saudi Market through constant efforts to provide the highest class of customer care and services.

Wafaa Zawawi, Director of Administration in Zahid Tractor, said,

"Zahid Tractor was very successful in reviving the Renault brand in Saudi Arabia through a program which started 5 years ago through the presentation of several new models like the very popular Megan and Clio Classic."

"We have managed to increase our sales by 70 percent last year and we are aiming at doubling our market share in the next two years," he added.

The new technologies in the 2006 model are the Renault card allowing hands-free engine ignition, and the assisted parking brake in addition to the Carminat Navigation and Communication system which will be available once the service is introduced in the Kingdom.

Offering a more refined atmosphere, the system is controlled from a central multimedia selector, which provides rapid access to the audio and telephone functions. The selector is positioned in the place vacated by the manual handbrake, which is now replaced by an assisted, hands-free, parking brake.

Customers can choose between two petrol engines, the 135hp 2.0 16V and the 2.0T at 170hp.

Retaining the styling benchmark set in its segment, the car expresses balance and stability. Its dynamic profile is accentuated with the special design of its rear end and its roof rails.

The car's front design has been completely revamped and includes a new one-piece component, which integrates the front bumper and the grille. The model also introduces a new generation of steering wheels, and a moulding surrounding the upper part of the dashboard.

The dashboard, features 70 percent of all-new components. Examples include the use of slush-moulded foam for the dashboard hood, and of thermo-grained materials for its lower section, both techniques rarely encountered in this segment.

Zahid provide all Laguna owners the privilege of free service for three years or 50,000 km, in addition to Renault's Manufacturer Warranty for three years or 60,000 km.
