Hyundai unveils the all-new 2006 Accent
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, March 09 - 2006 at 13:03
- PRESS RELEASE
The 2006 Hyundai Accent is now available in the Middle East, this was announced in a recent launch by Juma Al Majid Est., exclusive agents of Hyundai vehicles in the UAE.
"The Accent has been a trusted brand among motorists for value and performance," said Mr. Isam Abu Nabah, General Manager of Juma Al Majid Est. "The 2006 Accent comes with even more reliability, dependability, innovation, safety and value, but in a new eye-catching profile. We are confident that drivers will once again embrace this all-new Accent with its segment-leading standard safety features, increased interior space, and content that is typically not available in this segment, all of which should accelerate this Accent to the front of the pack."
Compared to the competition, Accent has a more refined appearance with body-colour door handles, mirrors, body side melding, and rear tailgate garnish. The roof-mounted rod antenna not only looks attractive, but also provides exceptional reception.
The new Accent is roomier than the previous model and, more importantly, than the competition. The 2006 Accent is 20 mm longer overall (4280 mm O.A.L), providing greater rear legroom. It is 15 mm wider (1695 mm O.A.W), which translates to class-leading rear shoulder room. It is 75 mm higher (1470 mm O.A.H), delivering of greater front headroom. And, it rides on a wheelbase stretched by 60 mm (2500 mm). With an interior volume of 2.6 cubic meters, Accent delivers the largest interior volume (passenger and luggage compartments) for a sedan in its class.
"Increasing the height of the vehicle and providing a roomier interior opens up all kinds of room and flexibility for passengers, thus ensuring a new level of comfort found nowhere else in its class," added Mr. Abu Nabah.
The 2006 Accent comes in one well-equipped body style, the GLS sedan. Class-leading safety features include dual front airbags; front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and roof-mounted side curtain airbags for both front and outboard rear seat occupants. Standard side curtain airbags provide an important advantage for Accent owners, as this feature is optional or not available on most other competing models of this class.
Under the hood, Accent has the most powerful engine in its category. It's new 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with CVVT (Continuously Variable Valve Timing) delivers 110 horsepower and 14.8 K.G . M / 4500 of torque. This new technology not only enhances power output, it also reduces emissions -- the new Accent is projected to receive Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) certification. It comes teamed with a 5-speed manual transmission, or an optional 4-speed automatic.
The interior design has also moved upscale with a new, distinctive two-tone colour scheme. Standard equipment includes an AM/FM/ audio system (CD is an option) with 4 speakers, a convenient tilt steering wheel, 8-way driver's seat with adjustable armrest, driver and passenger vanity mirrors, front seatback pockets, and a versatile 60/40 split fold-down rear seat that has a folding centre armrest with dual cup holders.
"We have delivered an exciting package that should respond exceptionally well to market expectations, especially on value, comfort and performance," concluded Mr. Isam.
