The launch of Intel® Centrino® Duo, which took place in front of a gathering of Egypt's leading businesspersons against the backdrop of the Great Pyramids, followed the recent introduction of Intel's new brand identity 'Leap Ahead', which reflects Intel's evolution into a market-driving platforms company. Previously codenamed Napa, Intel® Centrino® received its regional unveiling at a channel and retail event in Dubai in February and was also launched in the Kindom of Saudi Arabia the previous day.

Gordan G. Graylish, Vice President, Sales and Marketing Group General Manager, Europe, Middle East and Africa said:

"Intel is committed to its role as an enabler, working with the MCIT, our channel members and market players in Egypt to help the country realize the genuine benefits of a digital economy."

He added that "For a number of years, Intel has been undergoing a fundamental shift towards platforms and technologies that deliver new capabilities for people in their lives and make choices easier.

"Intel® Centrino® Duo improves upon an already successful platform with new features. New technologies allow for increased performance, longer battery life, smaller form factors and better wireless connectivity. Using Intel's first mobile optimized dual-core technology, the powerful new platform benefits both business and consumers, delivering responsive mobile computing, more secure and flexible connections, and greater performance for entertainment applications."

Graylish highlighted the growing need for mobile computing in the region and reconfirmed the importance of Intel's Digital Transformation Initiative in bringing improved digital accessibility, specialized competencies, and opportunities for education and entrepreneurship in the Information Communication Technology sphere.
