Construction of the park, with a total area of 1.06 hectors (10,688 square meters), will begin next month and the facility will be ready by the end of this year, said Rashad Mohammed Bukhash, Director of the General Projects Department at Dubai Municipality.

He said the park would meet requirements of the area's residents for recreational facilities. Palm trees will be planted to provide shade, and different types of shrubs and flowers will form a colourful ambiance.

"Dubai Municipality is keen to provide all means of recreation to the public and spread greenery in the city," Bukhash said.

He added that the park would include several facilities and features such as play grounds for children of various age groups, and a vast green area.

"One of the main features of the park is a mini-market where people can shop while kids enjoy different games. The main plaza will be provided with shaded seats. In designing the park, we have also taken into consideration requirements of the people of special needs," Bukhash said.

The park would have a dedicated section for children in the age-groups of 2-5 and 6-12 years to play various games. Adults can perform their favourite sports such as basketball, volleyball and tennis in a fence-separated play ground. A 500 metres long jogging track would be constructed around the park to enable people to perform jogging even without entering the park.

There are several parks in Dubai which are well-maintained and offer many recreational facilities. These green areas also play a significant role in protecting the environment, alter severe climatic conditions and prevent soil erosion, Bukhash said.
