HH Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed inaugurates ROADEX 2006

The exhibition features 180 exhibitors from 35 countries (including 123 international exhibitors) occupying an exhibit area of over 14,000 square metres in total.

After inaugurating the event, HH Sh. Hazza toured the venue and expressed keen interest in the variety of products, services and technologies related to the roads sector, being displayed at the event.

Delivering the opening address on behalf of HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority& Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Mr. Ahmad Humaid Al Mazrouie, Managing Director of ADNEC said that the road industry sector was considered one of the most important contributors to economic development in the region. He also added that Abu Dhabi spends in excess of US $1billion annually on the roads sector.

"ROADEX presents a great opportunity for exhibitors, high profile consultants, specialists and decision makers in the road industry to discuss concepts, trends and issues facing this sector".

Stating that good roads are a vital component on the road to a nation's development, Engineer Juma Al Junaibi, Under Secretary of the Department of Municipalities and Agriculture said that " Organizing this exhibition and conference reflects the UAE's concerns about this vital sector while at the same time reflecting the wise leadership of the nations' leaders which seeks to harness international best practices and scientific inventions in this field for the benefit of the nation".

ROADEX 2006 is organised by ADNEC, Department of Municipalities & Agriculture, Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Public Works and will be held at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre.

Traffic, Parking and Equipment are newly introduced exhibit segments at ROADEX 2006, in addition to the focus on Roads, Tunnels and Bridges thereby making the event the most comprehensive road industry show in the region. The scope of the exhibition encompasses all elements of road transportation including design, construction, operation, maintenance and engineering management. ROADEX brings together leading contractors, developers, suppliers and transportation officials under one roof.

A high-powered conference organised in collaboration with the International Road Federation (IRF) will also take place during ROADEX 2006. The conference will cover various topics related to the road industry with emphasis on Road Safety and Loss Prevention.
