  • PRESS RELEASE

A senior official of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) said today that tour operators and hospitality industry firms from Abu Dhabi signed lucrative deals with German and other European counterparts during ITB Berlin, the world's leading tourism event.

He said the ADTA is currently preparing statistics on the value of the deals, and he anticipated a significant rise in the volume and value of deals compared to last year's figure.

Ali Al Hosani, Director Marketing at ADTA, said more than 100,000 people visited the Abu Dhabi pavilion at the show. Of them, 15,000 people visited the ADTA section.

He said ADTA participation at the show, the largest so far, had yielded excellent results. Al Hosani anticipated that tourist numbers to Abu Dhabi in 2006 would increase significantly.

Al Hosani said ADAT would organise several activities in Germany and Britain this year aimed at further enhancing the position of Abu Dhabi as a prime holiday destination.

He highlighted the high level of cooperation among tourism departments, especially that between Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
