When it comes to the agro-food manufacturing sector of the industry in particular, the President of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI) Mr. Fady Abboud is especially optimistic about HORECA happening at the onset of this year, describing it as "the preeminent specialized event for the local, regional and international hospitality sector."

Mr. Abboud stressed that although all hospitality-related industries are important for Lebanon's economy, "the Lebanese food sector is significant because it is a potentially huge exporter."

Discussing how HORECA is a vehicle that promotes the strengths associated with the Lebanese food sector, Mr. Abboud pointed them out. "According to an international study, the strengths include: outstanding reputation for its Middle Eastern food specialties, the popularity of the Mediterranean diet and a ready consumer base among the emigrant communities all over the world."

Mr. Abboud also believes that HORECA is an excellent networking opportunity for young people looking for jobs in the hospitality sector. In an article Mr. Abboud wrote to The Daily Star newspaper in January 2006 entitled "Lebanon Under The Sun", he discussed the need for young Lebanese graduates to abstain from the brain drain the country is undergoing, and to be encouraged to stay and contribute to their economy.

"Innovation, design, and entrepreneurship are not really alien to our graduates, but they need encouragement and facilities, such as incubators, where they could unleash their talents," Mr. Abboud stated in the article.

Mrs. Joumana Damous Salamé, Managing Director of the trade show's organizing company, Hospitality Services, couldn't agree more and believes that HORECA can help young graduates meet key industry leaders and gain invaluable free advice.

"Having industry professionals who really count as Mr. Fady Abboud, gives the Forum a special professional ambiance for young people, exhibitors and visitors to trust HORECA as a reference in reviewing the latest products and trends, sourcing hundreds of new ideas, improving the profitability of their business, and discovering new services," added Mrs. Salamé.
