The deal constitutes the largest single order from DEWA to Ducab.

The contract was signed between Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, and Farid Mohammed Ahmed, Sr. General Manager, UAE Operations of Ducab, at the Ducab pavilion at WETEX (Water & Energy Technology and Environment Exhibition) 2006, that is currently being held at the Dubai World Trade Center.

These cables will meet part of DEWA's plan for the rapid expansion of the 11 kV distribution cable network. Under the contract, Ducab will supply DEWA with MV 33kV and MV 11kV copper cables, in addition to Low Voltage cables. The project will be implemented within 14 months.

DEWA had issued a tender for the cable supply contract in October last year. Following a comprehensive evaluation of the submissions, DEWA decided to award the contract to Ducab, on account of the superior quality of its products and excellent service.

"We are delighted on securing this prestigious contract," said Farid Mohammed Ahmed.

"Ducab has over the years built a strong reputation as a high quality cable manufacturer, and has been the preferred cable supplier for a number of prestigious projects in the Arab world. DEWA's decision to entrust us with such a high-profile project bears ample testimony to our market credibility."

"With a team of qualified and dedicated employees, a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit and an unwavering commitment to quality, Ducab is uniquely positioned to meet the most stringent market demands," Ahmed added.

Ducab has an excellent track record with DEWA over the past many years. Ducab had already supplied MV cables for DEWA's 850 MW "L" Power Station in Jebel Ali in 2005. Ducab also successfully supplied cables for the Power Station Packages "P" and "D" of DEWA in May 2004 prior to this contract.

DEWA are the organizers of WETEX 2006, being held from March 13 to 15, 2006 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The leading exhibition of its kind in the Middle East, WETEX 2006 showcases products and services covering the water, electricity and environment sectors. Ducab is a support sponsor of the exhibition, which covers a gross area of 12,000 square meters.
